Percussive Pulse in Manila

April 14, 2024 - 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Beginning from within, movement will start with stillness and silence, a gentle meditation to feel connected to our souls. Followed by the opening of the fluid channel around our spine. Our spines are the connection between earth and sky, and it is the home of the central nervous system. As we work with the spine, we calm the mind, and open the gates of the body. From there, we will flow into guided floor prompts to open our range, and expand fully into intuitive improvisation and the primal force of play.

We would love to welcome you in this sacred circle and heart beat of Percussive Pulse.

About the crew

Chloe spent her youth deep in the study of world movement forms. She explored the underground street dance and rave scenes of Metro Manila for 12 years, pivoting into traditional folk forms of West African dance, Malay and Javanese dance, downtown dance scenes of New York, Odissi Indian dance, and Kalaripayattu martial arts. She integrates her pilgrimages by deep diving into the intelligence of the body, simplifying practice through the healing arts, and working with the spine as an accessible approach to safely opening the body.

Having grown up with selective mutism, difficulty of speaking was an invitation for Chloe to express through her body. She developed a kinaesthetic intelligence and can attune to the unspoken stories of bodies. Today, Chloe works as a somatic therapist and embodiment facilitator, bridging the perceived mind-body separation (anxiety, trauma, burn out) through therapy, workshops, and retreats. She is the creator of Body as Earth and believed that deep change and belonging always begins with the body.

Jermaine Choa Peck is an environmental advocate, musician and actor, a few of the many hats she wears in her colorful life. Life itself and all the paths it takes her on is her passion.

She started her career as the percussionist and vocalist of an indie-band, The Ransom Collective, then dove into the world of theater as part of the ensemble of “Dekada ‘70”, as well as being a commercial model.

A free-spirited soulful warrior is the sun in human form. When she’s around, excitement is always pulsing, energy is always rising and a smile is always plastered on her face.

Aman Dela Cruz is a student of the percussive arts and a vessel for vocal energies.

A musical hedge knight for hire, going where music is absent, helping others release tension and embrace rhythms as part of being a free human being.

Currently the vocalist and percussionist of Kolektib, a collection of talented acts who joined forces to make the most unique sound to come out of aurora.

His mantra is simple. “Bounce and be lifted”
