When does ‘good vibes only’ start to do more harm than good?

Positivity is often seen as a guiding light, a force that lifts you up and brings brightness to those around you. You may thrive on this energy, radiating joy and optimism, and, in turn, inspire others to see the best in every situation. But what happens when the constant chase for feel-good moments begins to overshadow your deeper truth?

The “good vibes only” mindset has its appeal—it feels good to stay upbeat and surround yourself with positivity. However, this relentless pursuit can sometimes come at a cost. When we focus exclusively on positive feelings, we may unintentionally neglect or suppress other important emotions. Sadness, anger, frustration, or fear are essential parts of the human experience that deserve space and acknowledgment. Without giving these emotions room to be felt, we risk disconnecting from our full, authentic selves.

Ignoring discomfort or difficult truths in the name of staying positive may create a sense of dissonance within. While short-term boosts of dopamine from feel-good experiences are attractive, they can lead us away from confronting the deeper layers of who we are. True growth and healing often happen in the spaces where we sit with discomfort, reflect, and process the full spectrum of our emotions.

The question to ask yourself is: Are you chasing positivity to feel better, or are you using it as a shield from facing uncomfortable truths? There’s power in embracing both joy and pain, light and shadow. When you allow yourself to experience life fully, not just through the lens of positivity, you open up to a more profound sense of connection—to yourself and to others.

Positivity isn’t about ignoring the darker moments; it’s about holding space for the entire range of your experiences and allowing them to coexist. That’s where your truth lies—somewhere between the highs and lows, in the balance of feeling it all.

In a grandiose world that asks for more and more with the finite abundance that nature gives to us, small can be a way to appreciate the enough. Enough can be plenty. Small can be magnificent. Biodynamic Somatic Therapy in Singapore

Nov 27 - Dec 11, 2024

Biodynamic Somatic Therapy is a method of gently realigning the body’s dynamics to release tension, restore balance, and support holistic healing from chronic pain, stress, and emotional volatility.

Biodynamic Somatic Therapy (BST) is a gentle, hands-on approach that works with the body’s natural rhythms to reorganise from misaligned or overworked states into more fluid, available, and spacious states of internal harmony.

Rooted in Craniosacral dynamics, BST focuses on the spine—the core of the central nervous system—helping to address chronic pain, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, and the lingering effects of trauma.
